Carmen Lavanchy (1951), a musician and educator, seeks to contact and enchant children with artistic expression as a way of knowing, discovering and growing. She has dedicated herself to teaching in kindergartens, schools and universities (PUC and UAndes). She is the founder of Grupo Mazapán with whom she has made records, books, presentations and television programs. She is the co-author of music and art education books. She creates and presents educational concerts (with Camerata UAndes, Chilean National Symphony Orchestra and Coro Cantigas). She has worked in the Curriculum and Evaluation Unit writing Curricular Bases and Study Programs.
She is convinced that both the capacity for wonder and the imagination must be promoted and cultivated in order to become more complete and human.
Pigeon Valdivia She is an author, illustrator and editor of books, with a degree in design from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and a postgraduate degree in Illustration at the EINA School in Barcelona, Spain. His main passion are stories, illustrations, books and especially children. He has received many awards and recognitions, including the honorable mention at the Bologna Book Fair, 2014 for Little Red Riding Hood, and the White Ravens 2018 and Cuatrogatos Foundation 2018 prize for his book About Us.
Paloma He began his career illustrating in Amanuta with his book Kiwala knows the seaFor Amanuta, she has been fundamental in the development and growth of the publishing house, as she has illustrated many of our books. But above all, she has been a great friend with whom we have travelled together on the path of creating a publishing house, of making our books known abroad, of participating in many workshops, seminars and fairs, and of sharing experiences and experiences over the last 20 years.
Paloma's books published by Amanuta are several. The Kiwala collection was the first books of the publishing house. She later illustrated Artemio and the Caleuche, The Violet girl, Popol Vuh, The caulker, Games tradicionales.
In 2012 Paloma illustrated Little Red Riding Hood which received many national and international awards. In 2017 Amanuta published About Us, one of the books that has been written and illustrated by Paloma and that has received the White Ravens 2018 and Cuatrogatos Foundation 2018 awards and has been translated into many languages.
Also notable are her early childhood books published by Amanuta: Each feather flock together, Out for a walk, Colours, Everything in its place, I had 10 puppies, There was the frog, A yellow cradle.
At the 29th Bratislava Biennial of Illustration, the BIB 2023 Grand Prix was awarded to Chilean artist Paloma Valdivia. The main prize was awarded to a bilingual book of questions with poetry by Pablo Neruda.
Paloma is a guest of honour at the Bologna Book Fair 2024 and will have an exhibition with 30 works in the central space of the fair. She also had the honour of illustrating the cover of the catalogue of illustrators of this fair. Her nomination for the Hans Christian Andersen Award 2024
