De Patricia Fernandez Biebarach
Illustrated by Alexandra Acosta

This book seeks to open a dialogue between adults and children in an empathic way, thus improving relationships. It seeks to help to talk about how to be empathetic, about how to express to another what we feel, what we think, and share personal experiences. The book is organized around illustrations that represent diverse situations, typical of childhood in any part of the world and in all cultures. They represent basic emotions and feelings of the human being and, especially, those that affect children.

REVIEW

Empathy is defined as the ability to put yourself in the place of the other, managing your own emotions and impulses to send a message of understanding and recognition. It is one of the main components of emotional intelligence and plays a central role in social adaptation. It is important to bear in mind that the infant mind, and later the adult mind, emerge from brain activity whose structure and function are directly shaped by interpersonal experiences. An empathetic home environment will provide a strong emotional foundation for adult life and make us more resilient to frustrations and losses. The images and comments that appear in "Empathy" will allow children and adults to better understand the empathic dynamics and, above all, to put it into practice using this book as a learning tool.
