De aquí y de allá

De Maya hanisch
Illustrated by Maya hanisch

This book tells us that we are a little from here and a little from there. Some were already in Chile and others came from afar, hoping to find a new home in these distant lands.

REVIEW

The text presents the alterity and construction of identity from the encounter with others, both in the present and in the past. We liked how the title, with the adverbs "here" and "there", allows us to extend the discussion to how migration processes are understood today. The illustrations are very beautiful and descriptive of the identity of the subjects that are presented (especially because of the costumes, expression and social ties). I recommend it above all to discuss with children about identity and about integration and inclusion. Personal construction always goes through the encounter and communion with our roots and with the richness and variety of cultures and lives.
