Contest Rules Illustra Amanuta 2021

amanuta is a publishing house that, since 2002, publishes illustrated books for girls, boys and young people with the intention of entertaining, amusing, inspiring, exciting and teaching. As a publisher, we constantly seek to deliver innovative and creative proposals that adapt to current times. We also combine tradition and modernity, that is, cultural heritage and new concepts in a wide variety of topics, managing to enchant both minors and adults. 

Illustrators and illustrators are fundamental in the development of our editorial projects, and for the second year we are running our contest: "Illustrates Amanuta”. The objective is to meet new talents who can illustrate in Amanuta.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Chilean or foreign illustrators over 21 years of age.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE?

1. Each participant may apply with 1 illustration that must be sent through this form or e [email protected] with the subject "Illustrates Amanuta 2021".


2. Each participant must select a fragment of a text to illustrate (it can be any story or text for boys and girls between 0 to 8. It can be a fragment of a classic story, song, rhyme, riddle, poetry, etc. The text must be written in Spanish or English.

3. Each participant must illustrate the selected text fragment.

4. The format to be sent must be a single PDF document with:
    • Participant name
    • Nationality
    • Email address
    • Text in Spanish or English
    • An illustration (must not be published in any print media)
    • Once the PDF is sent, each participant will receive a confirmation of participation.

DATES

  • From August 30 to September 30: reception of illustrations.
  • From September 30 to October 17: evaluation.
  • Third week of October: Winning and selected illustrators will be notified via email.
  • Last week of October: digital publication on the amanuta website (amanuta.cl)

JURY

The jury will be made up of the Amanuta team and two other professionals from the publishing and illustration sectors. 

The jury will select a maximum of 14 illustrators, from which a winner and a second place will be named.

Selected illustrators will be notified by email and the list of selected names will be published on the site amanuta.cl.

AWARDS

First place: $ 80.000 in Amanuta books of the winner's choice that will be sent to any address within Chile.

Second place: $ 40.000 in Amanuta books of the winner's choice, which will be sent to any address within Chile.

Honorable mention: 12 illustrators selected to be part of the Ilustra Amanuta 2021 catalog, which will be published in amanuta.cl.

The selected illustrators authorize their works to be included in the Ilustra Amanuta catalog and in any other means of dissemination, for promotional purposes.

In addition, the winning and selected illustrators will be contacted to have a meeting with the Amanuta team and see possibilities for collaboration in future publications.

The fact of submitting works to this contest implies the express agreement of the participating illustrators with these rules.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Chilean and foreign illustrators over the age of 21.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE?

1. Each participant may submit 1 illustration through this form, or through [email protected] with the subject line "Illustrates Amanuta 2021". 

SUBMIT

 

2. Each participant must choose a piece of text to illustrate. It can be any story or text intended for children between 0 and 8 years of age, including a piece from a classic story, a song or rhyme, a riddle, poetry, etc. The text must be written in Spanish or English.

3. Each participant must illustrate the piece of chosen text.

4. Submissions must be sent as a single PDF document, listing: 
    • The participant's name
    • Nationality
    • Email address (required) 
    • The text in Spanish or English 
    • One illustration that has not been published in any print medium
    • Once the PDF has been submitted, each participant will receive a confirmation email. 

DATES

  • Illustrations may be submitted between August 30 and September 30.
  • Submissions will be evaluated between September 30 and October 17.
  • The winning illustrators and finalists will receive a notification during the third week of October via email.
  • The digital publication will appear on Amanuta's website (www.amanuta.cl) during the last week of October.

JURY

The jury will be comprised of Amanuta staff members and two other publishing and illustration professionals. 

A maximum of 14 illustrators will be selected as finalists, and a first-place winner and second-place winner will be chosen from that group.

Finalists will receive email notification and the list of finalists will be published on the website amanuta.cl

PRIZES

First place: The winner may choose CLP $ 80,000 in Amanuta books, which will be sent to any address in Chile.

Second place: The winner may choose CLP $ 40,000 in Amanuta books, which will be sent to any address in Chile.

Honorable Mentions: The other 12 finalists will be included in the Illustrate Amanuta 2021 catalog, which will be published on our website amanuta.cl

The finalists authorize Amanuta to include their work in the Illustrate Amanuta catalog and in any other communications for promotional purposes.

The winners and finalists will also be invited to attend a meeting with Amanuta's staff to discuss opportunities to work on future publications.

Submitting one's work to this competition signals express conformity with these guidelines.
