REVIEW

"In the mistralian version of" Little Red Riding Hood "we see Gabriela Mistral faithful to the story written by Charles Perrault with the intention of moralizing the young women who attended the gatherings of the French aristocracy in the time of King Louis XIV.
In the XNUMXth century, the story arrived transformed by oral tradition in Germany and we find this way in the version of the Grimm brothers that suppresses the moral in verse and adds a happy ending in which a new character appears, in this case, a hunter. , or woodcutter in other versions, who saves the grandmother and her granddaughter from the belly of the wolf and punishes him, filling his stomach with stones and throwing him into the river or a well. In this case, the German authors suggest an implicit moral that teaches children to be obedient, an aspect that was not in the original version.
During the XNUMXth century, new versions began to be written and since the Second World War, more than a hundred variants have been written, since each writer, like a true wolf, appropriates this girl and creates his own story, preserving the essentials of the history. Gabriela Mistral also writes her version based on the original version by Charles Perrault. "- Manuel Peña, literary critic.
