This book tells an unusual true story. In 1830 a young Yámana Indian was taken hostage by the English captain Robert Fitz-Roy. It was taken from the canals of southern Chile to London. They called him Jemmy Button, and in England he learned to live like English and was educated in the Christian religion. After a time, Fitz-Roy decided that Jemmy should return to his homeland.

AUTHORS

Ana María Pavez She is one of the founders of Editorial Amanuta and co-author of several books: Sabores de América and 1, 2, 3, ¿qué tal ves?, among others. She is currently the publisher's General Editor.

Olaya Sanfuentes Echeverria She has a degree in History from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, a Master of Arts from Georgetown University and a PhD in Art History from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. She has written books, book chapters, and articles, as well as being involved in various curatorial projects in museums in Chile.

Isabel Leaves He studied art at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and is dedicated to illustration. He collaborates in various magazines and periodicals, but it is in the field of children's and young people's literature where most of his work is developed. She has illustrated several titles for Editorial Amanuta, such as Sabores de América and Gabriela, the traveling poet who won the Marta Brunet 2008 award and was selected on the IBBY 2010 Honor List.
